Dec 6, 2009 In short: A basic dirty yeasty fruity Belgian brown ale. Just ok.
How: Bottle 330ml. Consumed when over 1 year of age, 8 months before expieration date
The look: Cloudy golden brown body topped by a small beige head
In long: Typical fruity yeasty nose just like the myriad of other low abv yeasty Belgian dark ale. Taste is toasted grainy malts, crusty bread, caramel, earth, berries, grapes, herbal hops, herbal spiciness. Lively carbonation. Leaves a sensation of dirt in the mouth. A light sour-ish grape sourness bothered me a bit. Nothing bad, but overall this is pretty average stuff. So average in fact that if it was twice as good it would be exactly the best beer possible.

Froth brown beer. Unusual taste in as much as it’s herby and medicinal, a shade too much so. Quite drinkable though!

Oct 19, 2009 Bottle from Bierkoning. Medium ruby body with sticky tan head. Caramel nose with some sourness. Nice and prickly texture with sweet finish.

Oct 6, 2009 Bottle [330ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. 2003 vintage. Pours a deep cloudy ruby with an average size frothy tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, nuts, some chocolate and dark fruit. Flavour is dry, a bit stale and slightly tart, with caramel malt, dark fruit and a hint of spice. Average bodied. A bit past it’s prime but still pretty good.

Aug 31, 2009 Dark red-brown colored with hazy appearance. Medium sized beige head. Sweet and caramelly, chocolaty aroma with nutty-raisinny note, good one. Medium bodied. Flavor is more sour with biting lemony start, some caramel also here. Aftertaste dries strongly with hops and lemon.

Aug 19, 2009 2003 bottle with thanks to HogTownHarry for sharing with Blankboy and I. Appearance: Murky brown, zero head. Aroma: Slight iron, some caramel, vanilla and light alcohol, not really an aroma sensation. Flavour: Malt, iron, some mild dark fruits, quite dry, some good earthiness to it with a lasting caramel and slight spice finish.

Aug 19, 2009 Bottle (330ml). Shared with blankboy and garthicus, via trade with Glouglouburp. 2003 Vintage. Cloudy reddish, smallish creamy white head. Dry, light aroma, caramel malt, dry spice, slightly floral .... sweet. Taste has flattened out some, a little bit papery, but still a subtle caramel and light spice flavour, restrained alcohol and a floral finish. Light body, not much carbonation left (it didn’t pop or "gish" at all on opening), a quick finish to the malt and a slight tartness on the tongue as an aftertaste. Just okay, probably much better fresher. Thanks for sharing the retired beer, Dany!
