Avery Ellies Brown Ale

12 oz bottle served in a clear tulip. Pour is cola with a reddish hue and a half inch of quickly dissipating cappuccino froth sitting on top. Nose is barley, malt, nuts, peat moss, and earth. Taste is a gritty, earth cola with the hop and malt lingering into the finish. I can’t rate this outstanding, but it is decent and quite sessionable.

Aroma has a piercing smell that reminds me of a sweet body spray or condensed fruit product like a fruit snack. After the initial blast I do get malt that I would expect from a brown. This beer is overly carbonated. Hardly gives me a chance to taste the beer. From what I do get it tastes like a porter without the astringent characteristic. Not what I was expecting from Avery.

Deep amber, thick tan head, nice lacing. Nutty, caramely, malty. It’s a brown. It’s pretty good.

Beige head and a cloudy brown color. Caramel malt aroma with some nutty notes about. Smooth and creamy palate. Nutty taste, along with a modicum of chocolate flavor. Heavy amount of malts with minimum amount of hops, but you know that they are there. Leaves aftertaste for a while.

It poured a dark slightly red liquid with a small dirty white foam. Smell and taste of malt and caramell. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness and medium body.

Bottle. Ölrepubliken, Göteborg. Brown colour with a beige head. Aroma: malty & sweet, dried fruit, figs, caramel. Flavor: sweet & malty, lightly roasted, nutty, caramel, dried fruits, chocolate. Sweet, but a bit more dry towards the finish.

Great sessionable brown. All of the qualities one would expect. Tons of cocoa, roasted malt, dark coffee, and brown sugar. A little thin but this is supposed to be highly drinkable. Hard to beat for what it is going after.

From the Bottle at TAG Restaurant, Denver 22/09/2009 Malty aroma. Amber coloured and hoppy with a little citrus flavour. Some dryness and roast in a chocolate malt finish.
