22oz bottle I bought at South Bay and shipped back to DC. Pours an opaque, slightly oily black with a creamy, frothy white head. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, licorice, earthy, spicy, a little vanilla. Flavor was sweet, bready, doughy, chocolate, coffee, nuts, toast, light citrus, tobacco. Finish is BIG on coffee bitterness with sort of a wet tobacco leave thing that wasn’t working for me. All in all, sorta average for an Imperial Stout.

I’ve never drank a stout before so I’m not sure how much influence this review should have on you. The brew pour dark with a brownish head with perhaps a taste of burnt coffee and chocolate. It tastes very very bitter. Too bitter for me to actually drink. I poured the glass out and will see how the remainder tastes as the liquid portion in a loaf of baked bread. If this brew is an example of stout then I’m not a stout drinker.

Bomber from Wavers1 i believe. Pours clear dark brown with tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate and some coffee. Flavor is roasty with lots of chocolate and some coffee. Medium mouthfeel and good carbonation for a RIS. Finishes dry and roasty with good amount of chocolate and malt. Pretty enjoyable overall.

22 oz. bottle- Pours black with a big frothy tan head, aroma is of alcohol and malt. The flavor is above average but not in the league as The Abyss or Stone I.R.S. , the alcohol is overpowering all the other flavors in this one, I could barely taste the chocolate malt flavor. Overall there are far superior Imperial Stouts out there.

Bottle @ J.C.G. Pours black with a creamy lasting head and lacings. Nose is roast. Coffee and chocolate. Smooth and vaguely sticky. Heavy roasted bitter coffee flavor. Bitter lasting end with notes of hops. Nice

22 oz bomber from Market of Choice. Poured black as sin with a foamy tan head and excellent sticky lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, and a rather potent citric hop note. Flavor is roasted, coffee, chocolate, and that massive citrus hop flavor. This is by far the hoppiest stout that I’ve ever tasted, and the battle between the huge hop and malt flavors is epic in scale. Would love to get out to Eastern Oregon and taste this one from the source.
