Commercial Description:
This beer is an American interpretation of the old Vienna-style lager. Exported from Europe to the U.S. and Mexico in the 1870s, this style had nearly died out by the end of Prohibition. Our version is medium-bodied, with a soft malt flavor balance by spicy hops, an herbal aroma and a slight citrus flavor.

Amber pour with odd fruity aroma. I think something was wrong with this...it reminded of the Penn Weizen I had a ways back. Sour, citrus like bitter lemon mixed with sugar. Overcarbonated and thin. I couldn’t finish it. I even let it warm way up...no improvement. Yuck.

Not a bad vienna, though my hometown Penn Pilsner has this beat. Aroma was very weak which is disappointing as it would have scored higher. Pour was a nice medium amber with no head. Taste was a little thick...but had heavy roasted and caramel malt flavor. Nice carbonation and a a thin film seems to go down the throat with the swallow. Odd. Decent beer.

Bottle courtesy of slob. Pours amber/copper with a creamy white head. Smells of citrus, tea, earth and grapes. Tastes of sweet malt, tea, spices and touches of pepper. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is sweet. Decent.

Had this beer on 9/14/1999. Aroma is a lightly roasted malt scent. Color is an amber. Taste seems light for an amber. Starting with a medium body that goes down with a roasted flavor. Finish is this roasted malt flavor with a light hop bitterness. Its a good Amber.

An orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is quite light, what is there is sweet malty with hints of oranges. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, leading to a dry metallic end.

Bottle. Sweetish caramel and toast malt fragrance. Amber pour with a rocky eggshell head. Crisp caramel and toast taste in a biscuity malty body with a little funky kick. Medium body with an only slightly dry caramelly aftertaste. Smooths out. Pleasant and quaffable.

12 oz bottle thanks to my Secret Santa. Soft brown hazy pour with amber leanings. Wispy head. Lightly sweet malt aroma that is a bit nutty. Lightly malty taste with hints of nuttiness and a mild sharpness at that finish. Fair. Body is medium.

I tried this hometown beer poured from the bottle, and was quite pleased. The beer had a malty, caramel aroma and came out a rich, but light, amber color. It had a mixture of flavors with a medium body and carbonation. Overall, I got more than I expected out of this beer.
