Medium in body with not much carbonation. The first sip was in your face smoke and ash. After a few more sips, the smoke mellows allowing the malt and whiskey characteristics to come through. Extremely different, but I’m not sure if I really like it. TheEpeeist (1488), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours black, shiny with a thin haze of a dark head. Wow, smell is smoky, peaty, whisky, some vinenous but the beautiful smoke brilliantly overpowers everything. Like some kind of great Whisky Wine!
Great smoky taste, the burn on the lips of Whisky, then the bitter chocolate foloowed by more Whisky. This is amazing. Tobacco too. Wow. Strong, very strong, dry finish. What an intense, thrilling beer. abemorsten (181), Randaberg, Norway

It taste like esspresso and heavy smoke and ashes. Smell like it too. I am a huge fan. If Talisker made beer, it might taste like this. Svesse (2683), Hässelby, Sweden

Roasted, smoky nose with notes of tar, ashes, liquorice and dark chocolate. Roasted, malty taste with liquorice, tar, ashes, espresso and a smoky, malty finish. Starts sweet but turns drier and ashier towards the finish. More than medium body. Very nice beer. CaptainCougar (5530), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2009 Bottle: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Has a rich smoky peaty nose with a touch of vanilla oak and salty sweet dark chocolate. Starts with decent malty fullness and toasty dark caramel notes with lots of earthy smoke flavor before a drier lingering Scotch finish. A pretty enjoyable Scotch barrel aged stout, with lots of smoke throughout. Maria (6323), Thisted, Denmark
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2009 It’s black with a red hue and a small, creamy head. The aroma has notes of peaty smoke, oak, whisky, ashes and peat. The flavor has notes of peat, smoke, bunt wood, ashes, earth, whisky and the finish is dry and very long with pleasantly waring alcohol. It’s interesting and very upfront bordering to brutal...
