| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 12/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Pours a light hazy orange color with a dense, very creamy, long lasting off-white head. Aroma has a very funky nose overall. Some caramel malt and Pilsner graininess come through early but then a funky olfactory concoction of a soured yeasty mango, cherry, light chocolate and mild vanilla aromas come through. Flavor has the same funk as the nose with a very early caramel malt but it quickly fades to a mango, cherry, vanilla and light chocolate with it finishing off fairly grainy. The body of the brew is pretty heavy, a very smooth sugary texture and very low carbonation as a whole. Aroma and flavor are very odd and really make a beer that is hard to categorize stylistically. Not bad but the combination of aroma and flavors that are present are a bit off putting for my palate. blutt59 (2147), Dallas, Texas, USA

More fire orange than blonde. Very little head despite aggressive pour.
Aroma of sweet fruit, light noble hops, slight alcohol.
Very mild taste for a Doppelbock, but quite pleasing. Some fruit. Pepper and spice notes from the noble hops, but no bitterness.
Thick and smooth. Not as chewy as some Doppelbocks, but chewy nonetheless. Low carbonation.
Easier drinking Doppelbock than most. Great Spring seasonal.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 7, 2009 From the bottle, pours a clear light amber with a small bubbly white head. Aroma is lightly corny and mostly malty. Taste is a lot of malt with a cheap-beer-bitter aftertaste. Real easy to drink, light on the palate, but I can’t say this is my favorite of the Capital beers. brosen561 (21), Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2009 From stem glass. My first trek into a style I’ve wanted try. Pours a deep translucent orange with a creamy head, and just a bit of lacing. Has strong malt/caramel aroma, along with lemongrass. Very thick and smooth beer, with strong flavors of malt, cane sugar sweetnes, and just a touch of bitterness, perhaps not enough. Finishes very clean, just a little hint of bitter aftertaste. Overall, very nice--makes me want to try Autumnal Fire. thornecb (1796), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
