Bottle, Clear amber pour with a short lived off-white head. Aroma has a slight suggestion of smokiness but much stronger are the notes of caramel, biscuity malt and spice. Flavour has even less smokiness and is quite sweet, especially for this style, and is pretty similar to the aroma. Smooth, slightly oily, mouthfeel, minimal carbonation and a short sweet finish. Pretty dull beer overall, a bit of a disappointment.

Pours a translucent deeper amber with a medium creamy/bubbly off white head that laced. Aroma of light smoked malt, hay, nuts, touch of toasted malt. Flavor of smoked malt, smoked meats, light citrus notes, some toasted malt and nuts.

Pours reddish orange, off white head. Aroma is sweet, grainy with only a hint of smokiness. Much the same in the flavour, phenolic, sweet, with barely any smokiness. Definately a beginners rauchbier.

Barely passable sweet ruby colour with no head. Some cordial type bacon taste in the background. Too sweet and sickly. Bad all round.

355ml bottle. Coppery brown in colour with a thin wispy beige head. Clear and moderately carbonated with an aroma of smoked woodchips that is not as strong as I expected. Tastes like a weak stout and does not have much of a smoke taste. Dry finish.

12oz bottle. Copper-brown with a weak head that just doesn’t want to stick around. There is definitely meaty smoke in the aroma with some dried fruit and caramel as well. Nice, but not a hit-over-the-head of smoke that some might hope for. The flavor is sweet with a dominant caramel touch and some woody smoke riding over it all. Medium bodied and a little syrupy with a touch too much carbonation. Malty, but the smoke adds a nice complexity to the flavor and aroma, making this pleasant, though a cleaner mouthfeel would help, and maybe a touch more dryness,

From the Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA this poured a dark copper with an off-white head and light lacing rings. The nose on this is caramel malts with some burnt aromas. Medium mouthfeel and body. Flavor is smokey caramel malt and the finish is dry. Pretty decent.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized yellow brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a transparent typically carbonated golden brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The mild aroma was smoky. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of malt hops and smoky. A decent one that I would consider buying again.
