Nice pour, deep red, thin white head, great clarity. From there it went downhill, to many hops, not enough body, needed more malt complexity to it. I thought this came out more like an ESB or Amber then a scottish, the hops were citrusy and overpowering, leaving it a bit oily. Malts give caramel and biscuit, but not enough of them. A touch of peat would have been nice.

pours a nice amber brown with a medium off white head. Aroma is rich caramel malt and dark fruit/ fruitcake and a hint of spice. Flavour is sweet toffee and caramel maltiness, a touch light in the body perhaps. Again with hints of dark fruit and a light earthy resinous bitterness in the finish. Great price though!

22 oz. bottle. Pours a thick, gradually diminishing, light beige head, with heavy lacing, over a slightly cloudy, coppery amber (SRM 15) body......nose is medium malts, with toffee, caramel, dominating, bit of coffee layers in.....taste is sweet malts (toffee, caramel) to start, then a bit of dried fruits (cherry, raisin) finishing with a rather sharp coffee/hop bitterness, which lingers.....mouth feel is medium to heavy, carbonation makes a creamy tasting. This beer has some of the characteristics of a "Wee Heavy" but does not have enough complexity in the malt back bone (minimal fruit, not enough caramel/toffee) to really meet the style. Additionally it has much too hop bitterness in the finish. The overall effect is an American interpretation of a Scottish Ale.

Toasty marshmallow aroma, clear mousey brown, thick dense sandy head. Malt bomb, little ashy, toasty wood, dries out in the finish.

22 oz bottle - pours a clear amber color with smallish light tan head. Aroma is nutty, with toasted caramel and chewy malts, hint of bourbon. Flavor has toasted malts, light caramel, touch of oak, bit metallic in the finish. Overall this is fairly average.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with an average, rocky light brown head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toasted grain, toffee, nutty), average hop (herbs), average yeast (leather, earth, leaves) with notes of plum, date, tar, dust, and burnt fruit. Medium bodied, oily texture, average carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.
