Commercial Description:
This thick, rich ale was brewed with plenty of caramel and roasted malts, and subtly spiced with American Chinook and Willamette hops. It boasts flavors of chocolate and coffee, along with raisins and dried fruit soaked in sherry. We’ve accentuated the natural smoikness of the brew by adding a small amount of beechwood-smoked malt and aging the brew in an oak whiskey barrel, which also adds notes of oak and vanilla.

Draft PP strong ale fest: Pours a deep dark brown with a thin but frothy brown head. Nose smells of raw pumpkin and other vegital matter, nuts, a little chocolate, and stale hops. Flavors are mellow and malty with a bit of the pumpkin coming through but luckily not too much. Some caramel and chocolate as well. Mouthfeel is medium-full and relaxing, just which it had better flavors that came through stronger.

Holiday Ale Fest... Poured black with a brown head. Chalky, lots of alcohol, chocolate and roasted malts. Meaty finish. Smoked overall with booze and whiskey characters. Also, almond-like nut flavors.

Bottle. Poured a jet black color with a creamy tan head. Left some lacing on the side of the glass as it went. Aroma was dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and toffee. Flavor was rich and creamy. Some burnt chocolate, coffee, and roasted flavors coming through. Some bitters in the aftertaste. Medium body, some carbonation. A very rich and complex beer. Very very good.

12 oz. bottle from BevMo (E. Tucson) - Pours a dark brown color with a one finger thick tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and dark esters. Flavor is much like the aroma with the addition of some chocolate. To be honest, I didn’t get much oak/whiskey or vanilla. Medium to full body. A little dry in the finish. A nice beer.

12oz bottle. Pours an oily, thick black color. Minimal beige head quickly fades out into to just rimming the glass. This is a really nice and balanced Imperial Stout, with a lot going on. Sweet chocolate aroma, with some dark fruit edges. The barrel aging works quite well with this one, imparting a smooth creamy smokiness. All in all in I really like it for expanding upon and breaking the mold, it certainly isn’t your standard IS. Sort of a hybrid between a smoky Wee heavy and a strong stout. Nice!

Flavor is roasted grains, chocolate, licorice, vanilla, oak, smoke, coffee. Well balanced and easy to drink. Nicely put together imperial stout.
