Bottle. Pours motor oil black with a small brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, caramel and alcohol. Flavor was dark bitter chocolate, dark roasted malts, black coffee, faint licorice and had a touch of smokiness with a thick and oily mouthfeel and had a dry slightly bitter warming finish. Awesome brew

Bottle. Pours a dark brown almost black color with asamll tan head. Has a sweetish malty chcolate aroma. Roasted mallty chocolate flavor with some vinous hints. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish.

Bottle shared generously by footbalm, thanks again Eric- you are the man! Pours a completely opaque color, dark brown, a medium brown head that goes down to nothing. The aroma is very nice; rich cocoa, roasted malts, hops stand out, light fruit struggles to get through. The flavor is similar; the dominating flavor is dry rich cocoa, roasted malts, some hops, lighter dark fruits. Very drinkable despite the ABV and very nice.

Bottle poured a translucent dark brown nearly black with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of bitter chocolate, charcoal, dark fruit licorice, oak and coffee. Palate was full bodied and smooth with a dry warming finish. Flavors of bitter chocolate, oak, dark fruit, roasted malt, light licorice and light coffee with a smooth dry warming lingering fruity finish.

Colour... jet black with a very thin chocolate brown head. When swirled it coats the sides intensely and has one helluva tendril effect! Nose... black coffee, lots of dark chocolate, some soy and roasted malt. Palate... incredibly viscous, sweet, coffee, smoke, oak, molasses, lots of dark sweet chocolate. Uff da, dis is nice stuff!

Pours mahogany-tinged black into a snifter. Mocha head recedes to hug rim. Chocolate, soy and marshmallow aromas. Creamy marshmallow and coffee upfront turning to a chocolate sinus-clearing alcohol burn.

dense impenetrable black body with an intensely dark brown fudge colored head. rich chocolate fudge and cake in the nose, hugely malt-focused, surprising notes of ink, black licorice, dark chocolate/cocoa nibs, light milk chocolate note, amazing depth, amazing integration of roast, mild aromatic hops, sturdy and cake-like chocolate... awesome. texture is gratifyingly strong and frothy with soft and pillowy carbonation, rolling around on the tongue like melted mexican chocolate ice cream. the tangy and prickly hop bitterness also suggests a sort of cayenne or black pepper presence you find in mexican hot chocolate or mexican chocolate ice cream. ridiculously rounded and balanced, it’s decadent, rich, deep and enveloping at every angle.

Semi-viscous, nearly black pour, with a dark tan head of an impressive size for such a strong beer - nose of bittersweet chocolate, prune, raisin, date, warming alcohol, slight leathery character, some char/smoke - mild carbonation, medium body - a bit of acidity up front - fairly sweet flavor - a bit of tannic character - a lot of bitter chocolate character to temper the sweetness, but it remains quite treacly - date, prune - a touch of sourness on the tail end, but the sweetness persists throughout - warming alcohol finish - a pretty dang good beer, but I’d like slightly less sweetness.
