Commercial Description:
THREE TIMES GOOD Belgian style ales possess an abundance of interesting qualities. The sweetness of Pils malt, the fruity and spicy character of special Belgian brewing yeast, the added dynamic of exotic brewing sugars. When these elements come together in the "Tripel" version of this style, what you wind up with is a whole lot of beer in one little glass. Enjoy ... carefully.

On tap somewhere, lost my tasting note, except for ratings and name. Remembered as a light bodied color with typical belgian abbey spices and a noticeable alcohol punch to it.

Sample glass at Hales with a spicy jerk chicken salad. Golden beer with a soft aroma. Soft body with lots of spice that lights up the spice in the jerk chicken. Mellon notes and noticeable alcohol. A big beer with big flavour and big ABV. Not subtle or delicate.

On tap at Hales. The aroma is sweet with lots of fruit. Sweet apples and pears, banana, and some spicy clove notes. Pours golden with a thin non lasting head. The flavor is sweet and fruity with apples, pears, bananas, clove, spice, sugars. Some bitterness in the finish along with a good deal of noticeable alcohol. This wasn’t awesome, but it was tasty and there were no noticeable flaws to speak of. Hales continues to surprise me offering more and more interesting beers deviating from their standard offerings.

On tap at Bailey’s taproom. Deep golden pour, good clarity, with a medium white head. Soft estery nose, sweet and spicy with hints of clove and honey. Thick chewy palate, not enough carbonation to lighten it up and dry this beer out. Still over run with excess alcohol.

On tap at Bailey’s. Flowery, sweet & alcohol aroma, background bubblegum. A litle mouth thickness. A dry, caramel twist in the flavor adding a little dimension to the general sweetness. Has a clean edge, with flavors of malt, honey & alcohol

Tap @ Bailey’s Taproom... Poured golden-yellow with a white head. Aroma of cloves and earthy yeast notes. A pretty good tripel -- which isn’t my favorite Belgian style -- but they did a decent job. Chalky clove flavors and a lot of earthy, citrus flavors. A little burn off of alcohol in the finish.

Straw colored and cloudy, small white head. Not much aroma. Reasonably bitter and fairly well balanced. Not bad, but not great.

On tap at The Front Door Boise, Pours out a straw topped with a cream head. Aroma of clove and belg yeast. Tast all about the yeast along with some more of the spice. A nice malt and light fruit.
