App.: Deep brown-black with a large mocha meringue.
Aroma: Lots of sweet stewed prunes, raisins, boozy, very deep molasses, some licorice, some berries, quite fruity, only a bit of dark chocolate and black coffee, some tang.
Palate: Medium-full body, soft carbonation, smooth and a touch powdery.
Flav.: Like the nose, it is very fruity, somewhat woody, a bit boozy, some pine and resinous hops, some citrus, still tangy; on swallowing, fairly, some wood, sweet and somewhat bitter, light fruitiness and black coffee hangs behind.

An interesting Impy. Much fruitier than many and the booze is a bit too evident. beerbuzzmontreal (2769), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 24, 2008 Pitch black pour with a medium. light brown head. Sweetness wafts into my nose and then roasted malt and chocolate blend in. Good flavor of roasted malt, chocolate and lingering sweetness. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation. tomthompson89 (1191), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 21, 2008 at Volo, Pitch black pour, not much head, looks oily, nose is earthy roasted malts some briny saltyness and maybe a little licorice. flavor has alcohol kick, dark malt uhhm i get some soya sauce, weird mix of flavors. Not a fav mabel (1710), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2008 [1441-20080531] Tap. Boozy roasted malt aroma with toasted grains. Black body with a medium-lasting foamy dark brown head. Roasted coffee malt flavour has lots of burnt roast. Full body is a little watery. Roasty and pleasant.

Aroma of roast coffee, dark chocolate too, black with a tiny tan head. Flavour is an upfront roast coffee, loads of dark chocolate. Full bodied, extremely well balanced, beautifully bitter, the alcohol isn’t even noticed. Fantastic!
