Commercial Description:
Stronger, fuller flavored version of the classic bière de garde. The New York Times (your Paper of Record) just anointed this beer the ultimate bière de garde, and rightly so. It’s a rich, rare treat from one of France’s old guard craft breweries. Be there or be square.

Bottled. Poured dark caramel color with small head & lacing. Aroma was raisins, dark fruits and malts. Taste the same.

Flaske: Rødbrun klar øl med et fint skumhoved. Duft af malt, malt og atter malt. Smagen er også maltdomineret, men ikke på den rugbrødsagtige måde. Fin øl men en kende ensformig og ikke helt min type.

750, corked and caged. Pours a cloudy burnished medium amber with a dense, creamy, slightly sudsy tan head. Caramelly, slightly toffeeish nose with very rich notes of real butter cream. Not diacetyl butter--butter cream. Smells like some sort of insanely decadent pecan pastry. Not cloying, though, and, unfortunately, not quite dimensional enough to qualify as an exceptionally aromatic nose. Creamy medium body, very subdued carb. Caramel, cream, pecans, and a bit of toffee on the mid-palate, mild pastryish finish. Tasty, very holidayish, and something I would gladly serve to family and friends around a big ol’ turkey and ham. But not one that will haunt my dreams with memories of biere de garde pleasures.

Bottle. Dark amber. Thick head. Aroma is Biere de Garde cubed! Big caramel and hazelnut. Thick hazelnut, caramel and vanilla flavour with a lightly harsh candy finish. Intriguing Biere de Garde toffee candy effect. Take a bag home for Grandma.

Bottle. Caramel colored beer with a light tan head. Caramel and light yeast aroma. Caramel and light yeast/light spice flavor with light candied fruit. Medium bodied. Caramel and light candied fruit lingers with light spice and light yeast.

Bottled. Aroma has caramel malts, grassy hops and some fruits. Clear, amber coloured beer with a lasting, off-white head. The taste was sweet, with a little bitterness. It has caramel, fruity malts and grassy hops, some sugar. Okay.

Bottle. Pour was brown/ruby. Aroma was lightly toasted malt with light caramel and some light cherry notes. Flavor was well blended with some slight must and hay in the back. Good brew.
