Hazy dark amber with an enormous three-finger, cream-colored head, continuously being fed by champagne bubbles. Good rentention and spotty, streaky lacing.
Subtle aroma, with toast, cereal, and a bit of floral hops. Very bitter flavor, as expected from an ESB named "CSB". There’s a bit of underlying malt, but the strong bitter finish does its best to drown it out.
Exactly what I expected, which is nice considering all of the let-down beers I’ve tried in 2009 that just couldn’t live up to the hype. This unassuming ESB from Idaho really hits the spot. Dorwart (1829), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Thin sloppy head of varying sized bubbles. Reduces quickly and has a nice bit of carbonation to it. Roasted grains in the aroma with some candy sugar, butternut squash and sweet tarts. Slightly hazy dark copper brown. NIce bitter roasted grains and a bit of grapefruit juice. A little bit of sweetness to offset the bitterness. Pretty well balanced. Finishes with a mild bitterness and slightly tartness. A decent brew. Arayaga2 (990), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Hazy amber, very lively pour, big off white head that sustains well, rocky leaves spider web like lacing, very excellent looking... Citrus, honey, toffee, very complex while being subdued in the nose, not pungent, but still very above average... Flavors are nice, toasted malts, earthy and citrus hops, not very traditional, very hoppy... TOO DRY, the flavors are overpowered by how dry the finish is, with a certain i want to say medicinal quality... I like this beer for the take on the ESB, but i wish the dryness didnt detract from the flavor for me... watson1977 (279), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2009 pours a slightly cloudy caramel color with a very thick light tan head...nice lacing and retention! aroma is sweet and reminds me of iced tea right off the bat...light grassy hops and some faint citrus...malty sweetness. flavor is pleasantly more hoppy than the aroma suggests...not sweet at all though still a bit tealike. very british hops...dry and earthy. mouthfeel is very lively and slightly oily. finish drys out quickly and lingers on with a very hoppily. awesome word. kwoeltje (1331), Manchester, Missouri, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2009 THOUGHTS: Very British. One of the better American attempts at this British style. A little harsh on the bitterness, but otherwise very nice.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark amber like maple syrup with an average, creamy, and cream-colored head that slowly diminished keeping a decent sheet and leaving excellent lacing. The aroma was moderate to heavy bread, cookie; nutty and caramel malts; light floral, perfumy, herbal and grassy hops; honey, toffee, a little fruity with hints of butterscotch. The initial flavor was sweet and lightly bitter; while the finish was a little more sweet and very, almost to to point of being harshly, bitter with a long duration. There was caramel malts, some citrus, nutty, burnt toast, metallic hops, butterscotch, herbal hops, floral hops and perfumy hops. The medium body was creamy with rather fizzy carbonation and a fairly metallic finish. NJBeerman013 (783), Trenton, New Jersey, USA
