Commercial Description:
I got a brew you can’t refuse. The Dogfather is one of the biggest brew we have ever made, weighing in a 10.85% alcohol. 7 malts and 4 hops give it a complex flavor profile. Over 11 month in the making some of the DogFather has been barrel aged. This is a very limited release with only 40 keg equivalents in draft and only 300 case made.

Bottle, thanks sis. Pours pitch black with small beige head, very thin glass lacing. Chocolate with maple syrup and burnt wood in the nose. Flavor starts with dark chocolate, dark roasted barley, followed by a bit of dark roast coffee, finishes very bitter, has a peculiar astringent hop quality that lingers. Very sticky and thick. Decent.

An above average imperial stout...rich and chocolately with a hint of ash with an alcohol burn which was pleasing. Nice job, Laughing Dog.

An interesting interpretation of this style. Like most other strong stouts it has a full body, dark color and thick lacing. The aroma has a mixture of coffee with some decidedly resin like pine as well. Flavor has some coffee and chocolate like most stouts but it also has a significant hop profile. The notes of piney resin that was apparent on the nose comes out even more on the taste which linger quite bitterly. It almost seems in the end that the malts and hops are trying to battle each other out for your taste buds, which certainly makes an interesting, if not a rather unbalanced beer. Aftertaste has some oak barrel flavors coming through as well. Overall, if you like a somewhat crazy american style stout with everything but the kitchen sink thrown in, I would recommend this.

My Chow, Tank, who is not a beer lover really liked this. He lapped it up and started to sneeze, then came back for more. Very chocolate aroma and flavor. Very dry finish. The alcohol is barely noticeable. Another nice one from a very good brewery.

Bottle from SL. Pour was pitch black. Aroma was citrus, strong chocolate, faint roast. The flavor was chocolate, strong roasty, ashy notes, citrus hops in the finish, faint vinous notes, chalky, dark fruits, tobacco. The mouthfeel was full bodied, a bit syrupey, but not sticky sweet. Decent. Period.

Oily reddish black with an inch of cocoa colored head. Aroma is chocolate and piney hops. Taste is the same, with hops forward, and chocolate less pronounced and slight lactic edge. Lasting bitterness with tootsie roll flavors into the finish. Carbonation is relatively high. $9/22oz
