Aroma Huge malt aroma with lots of spices in the background.
Appearance Dark Amber in color, Nice head and clear.
Flavor Tons of Barley wine flavor. This did not feel like a huge barley wine that kicks you in the teeth more like a mellow version.
Palate Nice Mouthfeel, great texture with a good dry finish.
Overall A very nice mellow barley wine great flavors,. Tons of spices and hops this was a decent barely wine.
SuzyGreenberg (1067), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 9, 2008 snifter @ beverage place barleywine bacchanal - dark copper with tan head and suspended haze; lots of lacing from the faded head; flavors of sugar and fruit; strong alcohol aromas and flavors, but has a great creamy and thick texture to it; yummy Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 20, 2007 Ruby-amber colour. Hazy. Thin head. Gorgeous beer. Big, balanced aroma. Woody, citrusy with light chocolate notes. Big chewy rich resiny hop crosses the tongue. Woody. Toffeeish, chewy malts with brown sugar and orange, lemon character. This is a complex, nuanced brew. Awesome. Skyview (3061), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 13, 2007 Seventh stop during the ABA Beer Tour 07 in Olympia, Washington. Sampled cask conditioned at the Fish Tale brewpub. The 2007 vintage brew pours a burnt ruby red color with no head except for a thin bubbly ring. Aroma of brown sugar, dried pitted fruit and some earthy spice. Taste is full bodied, very sweet with lots of alcohol texture. Finish is very dry with some dried prune flavor. A little aging will smoothen the flavor.
