Commercial Description:
Oak aged in barrel from Founders which had been used for their Kentucky Breakfast Stout, then dry hopped prior to cask and keg. We named this beer after our friend and local Bon Vivant Everett King Cole. Limited time on tap.

A very subtle variation on this disappointingly thin-bodied porter...the oak adding hints (and only hints) of oak, vanilla, and tannins, but still just too watered-down and lacking any distinct robustness.

(Cask) Pours an opaque black body with a small beige head. Aroma of smoke, wood, roasted malt, and coffee. Flavor is much the same with smoke, coffee, wood, roasted malt, bourbon, and some vinous.

Hand-pull at the Livery. Near black with minuscule tan head. Lots of coffee and roast in the aroma, with definite oak overtones and minute traces of bourbon. Flavor was over-roasted coffee and toffee with a little bit of oak funkiness. Understated bourbon in the finish. Mouthfeel was a big detractor - very watery. I had high hopes, but was a little disappointed that there wasn’t a lot more going on with this brew.

tap at the livery....poured a dark cola brown with a barely noticeable head....aroma of ashy bitter roasted coffee and some oak sourness. not too much bourbon considering it was aged in former KBS barrels...flavor was thin, semi-watery sour coffee with little carbonation due to the fact that it was cask-pulled.

on tap at the brewery. Poured pitch black. Nose is straight bitter chocolate and hint of coffee. Flavor is much the same, just a flash of coffee in the mouth and a watery thin finish. This one just wasn’t doing it for me. Flat and one dimensional.
