Pours a near-opaque black body with reasonably thick tan foam that hangs around.
Not alot on the nose. Bit of liquorice and meaty roasty notes.
Quite low carbonation, lean body, oily with a moderate dry roastiness, bit on the tame side.
Roasty nuts and meat on the body. Bit of tar, dark chocolate and spice, mild dark fruits towards a medium dry finish. Lingering bready note.
Easy drinking sort of stout, not alot to it. guzluka (7), Leicestershire, England does not count | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 1/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 22, 2009 chocolate, roasty, earthy, black, clear, minimal head, light sweetness, very bitter, medium sourness, medium body, thin feel, lively, bitter, Hermod (292), Vantaa, Finland

Easy drinking stout with chocolate malt sweetness and coffee notes, though a bit thin for its 4.5% strength.Lacks the roasted barley bitterness expected from a stout and its really more like a strong mild or porter. This used to be bottle conditioned a few years ago and I seem to remember it being tastier then. Still, I could happily drink this all evening, and its considerably better than Guiness! Aroma of roasted malt, mocha and coffee. Flavor is slightly roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, fruity and a decent bitterness. Medium body, actually surprisingly light considering lots of flavors. Nice balance between sweet and bitter. RichardW (258), Carlisle, Cumbria, England

Genuinely thought I’d already rated this as I’ve drunk my fair share of it over the last few years. This is just a lovely smooth beer. Nice sweet caramel, the roast flavour is subtle and not overpowering. The aftertaste is deliciously sweet, yet just smoky and fruity enough to give plenty of flavour on the back of the throat. Fine rich tan coloured head makes it a pleasure to look at. At 4 for £5.50 it’s a beer I can afford to drink all night and one I would certainly want to. rosenbergh (922), Helsinki, Finland

Black colour with small thick creamy off-white head. Aroma is very weak, fruity. Roasted malts in flavour. Some smoky notes. Good stout. Pyobon (271), Sydney, Australia
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown with a reddish hint and a good beige head that disappears quiet quickly. Little aroma; slightly fruity. Medium body and carbonation. Flavour was dark roast malt, caramel sweetness with afruity tang and little bitterness. Stout is not one of my favourite beer styles, but I really enjoyed this.
