Commercial Description:
Named after our riverboat, the Betsy Ann on the Alabama in downtown Montgomery, when you drink this deep amber ale you can taste darker caramel malts that leave your palate with a clean, slightly sweet malty flavor. Fuggles and lots of cascade hops contribute to the smooth balance with a slight fruity-floral finish.

Sampler. Deep mahogany/ copper color. Creamy white head. Nice lace. Caramel malt aroma. Light toffee notes. Very low malt character. Weak. High hop, lingering bitterness. Overall, its missing the bready sweetness, and with a higher bitterness, it just feels off balance. so so.

Draft at the brewery. Maroon/red color, very small white head. Malty nose with some caramel and a bitter undertone. Not too complex and more of a bitterness lean than is typical of the style, but easily drinkable.

Draft at the brewpub. Not too impressed with this one. Musty aroma. A bit too much hops for this style seem to be a weak attempt to cover for its other flaws. Drinkable but not one I would drink regularly.

Tap at the brewpub. Medium copper body with a thin white head. The aroma was sweet and malty with some caramel. The taste was a little bit of dirt and bread crust. There was also some caramel.
