hazy gold pour with fluffy white head.
smells like sweetened hand soap, pils grain, earth and lemon zest.
the flavor is similar... awfully sweet for a pils and lacking a bitter crispness i so love in the style. it does finish a bit dry but it tastes a little dirty or muddled.
the body is medium while the texture is a touch oily and thick since it lacks the usual crisp character. 6/4/5/3/13/3.1 iowaherkeye (1860), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 29, 2009 On tap@ the brewpub. Served clear golden with a thin creamy white film. Light flower petal hops with some light citrus rinds atop a saltine cracker malt backbone, faint fresh pasta there as well. If the aroma wasn’t so faint, it’d have gotten an 8. Flavor had the hops even fainter with more malts and some honey sweetness. The lack of hops kept it from being as crisp as I’d have liked. Bitterness peaked around a 2 in the finish. Low prickly carbonation with a light body. Actually a pretty darn decent pils from an American brewer--just add more hops next time! troopie (888), USA
