On tap at new holland. Almost clear amber with creamy beige head. Aroma is spicey and citrus hop with dryer caramel and some spicy malt as well. Flavor is spicey, pine, dry, caramel, spicey rye as well. Medium, creamy body. Resiny spicey version of mad hatter.

Live rate sampled at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange amber with a thin white head. Light aroma of rye, citrus and malt with some earthy spices. The citrus and touch of grapefruit is juicy. The rye complements this well as spicy and earthy against the caramel malts. The malts have a slightly old characteristic to them. Finishes with a rye bitterness that is enjoyable. Solid beer.

GTMW 2008: Bronze hued with a small but lasting frothy head, okay lacing. The aroma has notes of tropical fruits, rye bread, resiny and grassy hops, pale and crystal malt. The taste is a tour de force of rye snap combo with hop smack wrapped around a solid biscuity malt background. The interplay just rocks! Spicy and astringent finish. The mouth feel is very aggressive and biting. An outstanding refreshing beer, dangerously drinkable.

GTMW ’08. Poured a clear medium orange color with an off white head. Smelled of flowery hops, a bit of mango, and caramel. Medium bodied with moderate bitterness (5 out of 10). Flavor followed the aroma with malty caramel, flower blossom, and a gentle bite of rye.

On tap at GTMW. Poured clear medium amber with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up juicy pears and pineapple all over with just a faint complement of rye spicage.. very enticing! The flavor was sweet with warm toffee, grapefruit meat, and bready notes at the core.. surrounded by black pepper, grapefruit bitterness, and a fine complement of rye (especially toward the back).. heavier, fulfilling finish. Medium-bodied with ideal higher carbonation.. not a whole lot of rye influence, but what was there worked.

Draft at brewpub. Poured clear brown with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate sour citrus and small rye tingle aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium to heavy biitersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This beer would go well with a full bodied cigar.
