Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Only the 2008 vintage is stored here. There’s separate listings for older vintages. They are stamped with bottling date, which should be used to determine the correct vintage. Also, the 2008 vintage has a different label than the previous editions, with Easter Island statues visible. (vintage 2009 is a same recipe than 2008)

500ml bottle from De Molen shop. Very hazy russet with thin beige head. Rather a nice yeasty sweet fruit aroma. Maybe a tiny bit of puke. Drinkable after I’d de-gassed it a bit. Bit of yeast, bit of puke, some decent red fruit flavour. A bit like a Belgian ale I guess. Good fruits. Nice yeast character. I like it but can’t say why.

500 ml bottle. 2009 edition. Brown. Clear. Medium white head. Estery and peppery Belgian yeast. High carbonation level. Peppery with hints of apricot. Salty. Dry and powdery finish. Oranges and coriander perhaps.

Bottle. Pours dark, slightly reddish brown with a fluffy beige head that lasts ages. Aroma has notes of biscuity malt, caramel, spicy yeast and some dark fruit. Flavour is similar with the malt and caramel up front and the spice, yeast and fruit at the back. Medium body with a dry mouthfeel and a long, slightly bitter, finish. Very good beer, well balanced and expertly put together.

A clear dark amber colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of fruits and malts. There is sweetness with some hop bitter. In the back yeast and honey. The taste is fruity a little caramel, bitter, notes of chocolate with spices in the back. The aftertaste is bitter, some sweet and a little spicey.

Bottle. Unclear brown body. Small nice off white head. Hoppy fruity aroma. A little sweet malt too. Light sweet flavour, a tad "Belgian". Light hoppy. Light bitter and sweet finish. (At home, 25.06.09)

Just a bit ho-hum and thus a bit disappointing. Very classic off the nose with a big yeasty, fruity bite and a hint of sugary malts. To taste not dissimilar but a suprising lick of spicy bitterness drives the back palate. Mabe a bit underpowered for the style as well.

500ml bottle. No information besides that...a rarity for this brewery! Hazy amber body, with a big, ’Belgian’ style off-white head in a Duvel glass...which seemed somewhat fitting. Aroma is quite interesting; spicy, vanilla, caramel malt, somewhat subdued. Body is full, creamy, good carbonation, alcohol very well hidden. Flavour really suprises me, the aroma doesn’t allude to such complexity; rich toffee, dark fruits, plenty of vaniilla and clove spice, and then some! Some roasted notes of cocoa and wood join quite a lingering finish of more spice, bitterness is low and somewhat takes a backdrop to spice overall. I actually thought this beer was spiced in itself, but its really just a result of characterful yeast. Very nice beer overall!
