Commercial Description:
21°P, 35 IBU. Ingredients: Malted barley, wheat, malted wheat, sugar, hops, yeast and local Grimstad water. It is very difficult to brew a complex and balanced Belgian-style tripel ale, but we have made an attempt at brewing one anyway! Our respect and admiration for those who master the skill and art of brewing excellent ale of this style is limitless. Tripels often pair with cheese, seafood and fresh vegetables.

Appearance: Pours a deep yellow body with a large, creamyish, whitish head. Smell: Extra pale malts with malted wheat and perhaps some pilsner malt in there as well. Notes of wildflower honey and fruit and flowers and even a teensy whiff of ground white pepper. Taste: Blend of light pale malts and tangy wheat with a touch of graininess and a honey-laden and candi sugar sweetness. Pinch of dehydrated orange peel and pepper and a small dash of melon juice. Slight floral hints. Modest amount of hop bitterness. Peppery alcohol tones lends some warmth to the dry, lightly spicy finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Drinkability: A solid, straight-forward tripel, though I could’ve used just a hair more effervescence.

Tap at Blind Tiger: Hazy yellow pour with a tight white head. Has a great dry yeasty aroma giving off bread crust characteristics and a subtle herbal dryness. Silky on the palate. It’s also not sweet like many interpretations of this style. The body is dry and bready with a softly spicy herbal presence on the back. A well done Tripel.

Pours blond with a floral fruity aroma. The flavor is typical of the Belgian tripel style with a lot a yeast and fruit and some banana ester. Not bad.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Hazy orange gold poor with no head. Light creamy caramel aroma. Medium body with mild carbonation. It’s spicey, caramel and mildly fruity. It’s really good.

Clear golden. Persistent creamy white head. Candy sugar lines the nose with lighter shades of lemon, alcohol, candy apples, gum, pear, puttylike yeast and unripe banana. Faint whiff of sulfur. Tight carbonation. Slippery bananalike fruitiness accompanies a candy sugar and sweet bubblegum fusion. Peppery alcohol lends some astringency which is amplified when it links up with the pervasive yeastiness. Body lacks dryness and crispness, and the prominent sweetness is prolonged by an overbearing baked-apple flabby twang. Floral hops possess some succulence yet there’s little in the way of brightness or explosiveness. Ghostlike malt lends a vanilla-cake-like quality which dovetails with the banana esters, further exaggerating the residual sugars. Closes with a dried pineapple suggestion and mild bite of sulfur. Aroma is curiously muted and also lacks yeast-derived nuance and vibrancy. Very similar to most triples out there in that it is too wet/limp/poorly attenuated. Decent.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Hazy orange with a small, staying, creamy, white head. Lovely milky notes amongst peach, oranges, some coriander, yeast, sweet maltiness. Medium carbonation, fine oily mouthfeel. Flavour is vinious (perhaps a tad too much?), peach, banana, maltiness, yeast. Quite fine, but it isn’t the best tripel I’ve had.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. The smell is weak, sweet, yeast, and not as much. The look is clear, light golden in color, and not too much head. The taste is sweet, candi, sugar, yeast, and slight fruits.

Bottled at Sorbon, Stockholm. lear golen, rich airy head. Orangey nose with evident Belgan tyle yeast charater. Mid-sweet with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Ther’s orange marmelae and marzipan. Fruity and non-sticky, herbal bitternes.
