Commercial Description:
Deep burgundy color with a big, fluffy head. Complex fruit aromas with a layered sweetness (honey, then caramel, then toffee) with a hint of licorice and chocolate. A big, rich, abbey-style ale that dries out nicely on the finish.

reddish brown pour with a thick yellowish tan head. aroma is rich toasted malt, nutty caramel tones, dark fruit. Dark fruit to the front, cherry, plum and grape and raisin. Medium sweet maltiness in the body. Light bitterness in the finish is pleasant and a touch dry. Very nice.

From Bottle. Nose is sweet and fruity, with notes of brown sugar and dark fruits (cherries perhaps?) that culminate to form a very complex aroma. Appearance is not quite a red shade of burgundy with a very fluffy and fragrant off-white head. Taste has a lot of the aromas described above, with some honey. Slight carbonation with thick, full mouthfeel. Reminds me very much of most the barley wines I’ve had. Really quite delicious.

A little sweet but candi sugary goodness mixed with some heavy hitting darker fruits, raisins, prune, and the likes. Alcohol definitly present but in mostly nice way. Could drink a couple of these if they made their way to my cellar.

Pours red/brown with a reddish tan head. The aroma is yeasty with over ripe fruit basket. Mostly apple, pear, plum and banana. Mild spiciness in there too. The flavor is surprisingly well balanced and thick with fruit flavors. Grapes, berries, honey, caramel, and a wonderfully complex spice character. It finishes yeasty and a little bitter. Very enjoyable. Noticeably high alcohol content, but not in a bad way.

I first had it during a tasting and many times since. Caramel, cherry, plum, other fruity esters, bread, and spicy tinge to balance it out. Amber with a two finger head.

Pours a deep mahogany with a thick, lasting off-white head. Smells sweet with a bit of honey. Taste is delicious with a hint of bananas and other fruit. Aftertaste is mild with a bit of bitterness. Palate is good, silky with only a little hint of carbonation. Overall a great beer.

From the Bottle at Indulgences Etc, Denver 23/09/2009 Some spiced aroma. Amber coloured strong in alcohol and a little sweet on the palate and malty. A little bitterness in a crisp malt finish.
