Ommegang Stout

On tap at Bodega. Dark brown/black pour with a frothy tan head. Metallic nose with roasted malt and bitter hops. Roasty chocolate flavor with a bitter hop finish and a coffee aftertaste.

Growler - dark brown, nearly black, with a fluffy tan head - intensely roasty aroma, with light notes of smoke, some charred wood, light sweetness - very dry flavor, moderate coffee bitterness - very tasty notes of smoke and a lot of woody character - quite dry in the finish, with long lingering bitterness - a little vegetal as it warms, but it’s easy to overlook because it is otherwise so tasty.

Poured opaque black with a tan head. The aroma is of roasted malt and burnt marshmallows. There is also a mild tartness. Dry roasted malt flavor with just a touch of coffee. Light bodied with a dry roasted bitter finish.

Tap at the Blind Tiger. Deep black with a nice firm head. Not on nitro. Quite nice overall, a perfect level of roast and bitterness for the style, really drinkable, but as it warms it becomes overwhelmed with a rather offensive smell of old, rotten steamed broccoli. God damn. Yuck. Should have finished it while it was still cold... probably would have been a 3.9

A quite dry stout with many roasted, toasty notes. Bitter coffee finish follows an oaty, grainy mid-palate. Dark in color without much to distinguish it in the glass. Plenty of typical dry stout aroma, but not as much to back up the profile on flavors...

on tap at the Blind Tiger. Looked black in color (dim lighting) with a medium retaining tan head. Aroma of alot of roast, some molasses, chocolate, and lightly chalky. Taste was pretty roasty for a dry stout, mild to moderate astringency, molasses, chocolate, a touch of minerals. Body was light and easy drinking. Finished with lingering roasty bitterness. Overall a solid beer.

Growler from Shoreline Beverage. Pours black with a small ring of tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of buttered popcorn and roasted malt. Flavor is pretty similar, slightly more roasted with a tinge of coffee. Ok stout but pretty weak.

Fresh 10 oz. "growler." Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit, toasted butterscotch, cheap coffee. Flavor primarily roasted malt with that weird cheap coffee. Pleasant enough, but also kind of blah.
