Hazy brown. Full mlaty body, grain and nuts. A bit vinous, similar to an Old Ale, lightly oxidised.
Sherry, prunes, redcurrants. Dry, slightly sour finish. Smaskifa (56), Oslo, Norway

Taste of roasted malt, hints of coffee, caramel and slightly bitter hops. Ok, but not their best. Beer2000 (1841), Kristiansand, Norway
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Draught @ OMB. Hazy, reddish brown body with a beige head. Aroma is malt and caramel. Flavor is slightly roasted malt, caramel, a bit fruity and some bitterness.
Nice and harmonic, but I feel for some more sting at this alcohol level, more of something and definitively more hops. larsga (2980), Oslo, Norway
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Small offwhite creamy head. Deep red faintly hazy body. Firm malty caramelly aroma with fruity wild berry notes. Roasty dry sweetish malty taste with fruity chocolatey notes. Some acidity as well, helps to make it more refreshing. Dry faintly hoppy malty wild berry aftertaste. Taste is light for the amount of alcohol, but balanced and quite harmonic. Nice! (0.5l draft at the brewpub. Note: board and pump clip both say "Juleøl", but it was "Julebrygg".) Gr0ve (1416), Oslo, Norway
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2007 1 pint. Dark chestnut brown colour. Small fine-laced white head. Sweetish malty aroma reminiscent of red berries. Lots of münchener malt, definitely of English origin. Crisp carbonation, but less obvious than in their other beers. Refreshing finish. Very nice winter warmer. Rune (2850), Tromsø, Norway
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 18, 2007 Served at a fine drinking temperature on tap at the brewpub. Unclear, mahogany body supported by a ring around the rim of the glass. Inviting aroma of dark caramel and dark fruits. Aroma and taste are in perfect harmony. The flavour brings dried and stewed fruits followed by caramel malts and a yeasty touch in a nice bitter ending. Comprehensive stuff and quite easy to drink. The OMB carbonation is a bit distracting, but this year’s Julebrygg is still a solid winter drink (11.12.2007). yngwie (5000), Kristiansand, Norway
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 7, 2007 On tap at the brewery. Reddish-brown with a small beige head. Nice carbonation and lacings. Malty sweetness in the aroma. Has the character I recognice in most of the other beers. Light roasted flavor wth a nice fruity bitterness. Medium body and sweetness on the palate. A nice beer, but more a winter-beer than a christmas ale. (060118) thebeertourist (2822), Oslo, Norway
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 19, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Dark ruby red with a solid and stable white head. Hazy. Nice lacing. Sweet and fruity aroma, some citrus. (Unfortunately served a bit too cold for the aroma appreciation). Nice craramel flavours, somewhat spiced, with pleasant balancing bitterness. Fruity as well. Fizzy, full-bodied. A very refreshing, yet flavourful winter ale. I will order it again as long as they have it- it is a seasonal after all.
