Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Easily one of the best beers that I’ve ever had. The pour is cloudy goldish amber with a nice lasting chunky white head. The aroma is spicy, piney hops, but its the flavor that wins me over. Flavors of pineapple and orange in the beginning with some sweet, resiny malt backbone that just explodes into piney hops with a biting, spicy finish. The hops at the end linger like no other ipa. An excellent, excellent beer.

Bomber. Hazy, deep gold. Frothy white head that diminishes to pools. The aroma is full of grapefruit, orange, resin and sweet caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter, a long-lasting bitterness. Medium to full body, velvety texture and moderate carbonation. Hop 15 is big on hops with less complexity in the malts. In fact, it is fairly one-dimensional. Still, the sweet backbone helps balance out the heavy bitterness. Enjoyable double iPA.

Hazy orange pour with a foamy white head. Massively sweet honey and grapefruit character with a lasting bitter pine finish. This is just a sticky, cloying malt bomb covered up by some nice hop flavors but it’s just too overtly sweet and out of balance.

Bottle. Pours an orange, cloudy liquid with a medium-sized, off-white head. Aroma is fruity and grassy with lots of floral hop notes. Taste is a bit acidic and quite bitter with lots of grapefruit and some pineapple. Long, bitter finish. A really nice DIPA.

Huge, huge thanks to coyotehunter for this. Pours a golden orange with a one finger head. Smells of citrus, sugar, honey and pine notes. Mouthfeel is thick and oily, taste follows the nose and is really smooth with a wonderful hops bitter. Really well balanced beer. Wish this was available around here.

22 oz bottle. Pours somewhat copper with a big head. Aroma is outstanding. As soon as I opened the bottle, I could instantly smell the hoppy goodness. The aroma and taste is mainly dominated by citrus and pine notes. The bitterness from the hops lingers forever on your tongue. I had no clue this was 10% ABV, it is well hidden. This is great flavorful, well balanced, double IPA.

27th August 2008. Orange cloudy beer. Lots of hops but smooth and fruity. Ubiquitous grapefruit aftertaste. Good IPA - slightly above the myriad crowd of hoppy beers.

One of my favorite California IPAs. Hoppy deliciousness! The pour has a hazy amber orange look to it, with a decent sticky head. The smell of this beer is pure hops. The taste is hop heaven. Not too piney and not too citrus-ey a perfect balance of hop varieties. Probably not the best beer for someone who is just getting introduced to IPA’s , but for the IPA lovers a it’s hit for sure.
