Pours very dark brown with a large foamy tan head. Smells like chocolate. Also toasted malt. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is chocolate over toasted malt. Finishes a bit chalky and pretty dry. Maybe a touch of smoke. Or not. Quite smooth.

silky velvet mouthfeel that is not light. dishwater hop taste and aroma in a wine like taste that morphs in malt and burnt wood on alternate sips. quite an impressive brew by any means. i really did not detect much dark chocolate or for that matter any oaty characteristics. but why should that take away from the clear fact that his brew is a beaut and a winner. damn i should have bought more while down in Orlando!

Bottle. Pours dark black with the notes of chocolate and some espresso. Malt notes rise with the chocolate and the dense flavor/texture of the oatmeal. I thought this would be kind of too much but it works really well!

On draft at OTH. Sounds delicious... Pours dark cola brown with a white head. Nose is roast, coffee, oatmeal, dry bitterness, bittersweet chocolate, and roasty bitterness. Flavor is similar with chocolate, cocoa, coffee, and lingering bitterness. Medium body and ok overall.

12 oz bottle courtesy of an extra from GAManiac. Thanks, Grant! Pours a very dark pour, black with brownish red edges, mostly opaque aside from the bottom and edges. A decent very light brown head that dies to a small layer, laces ok. Aromas are chocolatey, bitter and sweet combined, faint coffee, a good dose of caramel, a bit smoothed out roasted maltwise on the nose. Initial is burnt roasty malts, chocolate, both semi and regular sweet, light coffee, a bit of smooth sweetness and caramel, but still holds up well roasted malt wise. Body is medium, possibly a bit underbodied for an Imperial, but not bad at all. The taste is good, not quite full, but it goes down easy after my last beer. A bit of a roasty dry finish, which I would have expected more sweetness to a "Double Chocolate" beer. I feel like I taste Peanut butter in this beer, despite not having any for several days. Some milk chocolate, oatmeal sweetness. Not bad at all. Would drink again.. I think this would be better at a touch less ABV.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: Very dark brown with a small, foamy, dark tan head. Poor head retention. Aroma: Roasted malt, dark fruit notes, some bittersweet chocolate, and touch of dried cherries perhaps. Flavor: Bitter roasted malt and bitter chocolate notes. A touch of coffee, earth, and slight burnt notes. Very satisfying. Palate: Medium, prickly carbonation with a medium-rich mouthfeel and a long, roasty finish. Lighter in body than I was expecting. Overall: A damn fine Porter that is worth a try. I was very surprised to find the alcohol level as high as it is. It hides the alcohol very well.
