| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and lasting tanned head. Aroma and flavour of sweet malt, lightly roasted coffee, nuts and an underlying fruitiness from the hops. Medium bodied. Great balance and one to sip and savour. Sweet malty finish and low bitterness. A classic stout. horto008 (23), Alabama, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2009 This is the stout I compare most others to. Mainly because it’s easy to find, relatively inexpensive, and has all the good qualities I expect out of a beer with the word "imperial" on the label -- angry eyes to you Sam Adams. The beer pours dark with a medium head, and has a distinct brandied fruit taste. Seems slightly acidic to me or I would score it higher. armando629 (978), Budapest, Hungary

Poured deepdeepruby-near black body with a small beige head. Nice aroma of coffee and dark chocolate, deep roasted malt, some hop. Medium body with a deep roasted grain character, mild-oily texture, coffee, dark chocolate and cocoa, dried plum. Roasted, liqueric aftertaste. tlind2 (604), Helsinki, Finland

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Pours deep black with just a half-finger of reddish-tan head. Aroma is pretty faint. I’m not really picking anything up. Flavor is better, with a ho-hum start, followed by coffee, chocolate, raisins, plums, and a touch of cherry, finishing with a well-balanced return to coffee bitterness. It certainy doesn’t compete with some of the more suped-up impys out there, but it’s by no means a stinker. Pretty good stuff. danielst (140), Vienna, Austria
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2009 35.5cl bottle, BB date is Dec 09: Almost black in colour with a light brown head. Aroma of plum juice, cocoa, light coffee, red grapes, a hint of alcohol, but very pleasant. Bittersweet flavour, very roasty and coffee-ish, with a pretty bitter, lightly chocolatey finish. The hops are completely overwhelmed by the dark malts. A bit light on the palate, but absolutely solid. Case (37), Germany
