Dec 10, 2009 This beer pours a deep amber with a medium white head that dissipates quickly. The aromas are bread and slightly earthy. The flavors are dough, leather and dry. This is a reasonable beer but not one of their better ones. Cheers!

Dec 6, 2009 Good sweet malt flavors, lightly hopped for a pale ale. A coppery color. The beer was smooth. Not bad overall.

Nov 30, 2009 Pours copper with a tall beige head. Aroma of molasses and hops. A hint of banana as well. Metallic taste, creamy mouthfeel. Good beer.

Nov 22, 2009 Clear copper colour with beige head. Aroma has molasses, hops and maybe a hint of leather. Medium body and carbonation with a creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is dominated by dark roast malt, almost porterish, with black treacle and hints of fruit and maybe tea with a longish bitter finish that is a little metallic. It’s good, but not excellent.

Nov 13, 2009 Deep amber with a cream colored head. Bitter malts and light hops for the aroma. Good on the palate with a definite bitter malt flavor and a light fruit finish.

Nov 13, 2009 aroma is strong malt with typical nearly acrid samuel smith character. appearance is a score past pale into darker territory. flavor is chewy caramel, good general bitterness with subtle pine.

Nov 10, 2009 Poured from a brown 55cl bottle: Sweet biscuit maltiness and a ripe apple fruitiness pairing with light notes of alcohol and oceanic salinity in the aroma - pretty light though, unfortunately. A ruby red pour with a frothy white head. Nice toasty to slightly roasty malt flavours with subtle leathery/spicy hops, caramel and again a light alcohol presence. Mouthfeel is light to lighter medium, the carbonation is quite lively for a british Bitter. This was somewhat disappointing, need to try it fresh(er) perhaps.
