mabel (1710), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 11, 2008 [1669-20080906] Tap. Brewed coffee grounds and mocha chocolate aroma. Clear, dark brown body with a medium-lasting foamy tan head. Roast chocolate mocha malt flavour is slightly burnt with a hint of booze. Full body. Solid porter.
(@ brewpub; Anchorage, AK) jerc (3268), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 11, 2008 2008-09-06. Black body with a modest tan head. Sweet malt with undertones of sweetness rapidly gives way to light roast and bitterness, brief coffee ground notes, mocha and coffee linger - a bit roughly for me - slight ashen acidity is just enough to be noticed. (6+) Moderate roast in the aroma is either quite mild or my sniffer is not working hard enough. Very light mocha notes. Average palate is thin for my liking. On tap at the brewpub. hoppybeers4me (15), Ohio, USA Jul 21, 2008 On tap at the brewpub July 10. I’ve recently gotten back into drinking porters and stouts, so this one was a treat. Poured jet black. Super rich toasty malt and coffee taste. Nice bitter on the back. Very indicative of the style, reminded me of Guinness in a way. Braudog (3464), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Jul 17, 2005 Draft at the brewpub, 7/6/05: Dark brown with a decent smoke aroma, but the flavor is sweet malt with little constructive character. So-so. aracauna (2250), Georgia, USA Jun 25, 2005 Very dark, almost black. Big roasty aroma, coffee and chocolate. Slightly rich on the tongue, but not really sweet. Slightly thin body. Makes for a great dessert beer.
