taunusmies (239), Finland Nov 30, 2008 Pours very dark brown, almost black. Small brownish head that vanishes quickly. Roasted malty taste, notes of dried fruits, dark chocolate and coffee. Silky smooth palate. Very interesting beer. esox (142), Oulu, Finland Nov 29, 2008 Almost pitch black, slightly brownish brown pour. Thin, beige head with a very nive lacing. Rich malty aroma, loads of dark fruits, roastedness, some yeast and hoppy finish. Licorice in flavor wih sweetish, a bit smoky malts. Bitter finish with cofee aroma. Almost mil chocolate-like sweet flavor. Palte is full bodied, oily and silky smooth. This one is rather sweet but excellent Imperial Stout. DSG (994), Yuvalim, Israel Nov 26, 2008 2008 bottle (thanks omhper). Dark brown to black-colored with tiny bubbles surrounding the beer, and a small, quickly-diminishing, bubbly beige head. Aroma is a bit surprising - smells more like a dark Belgian Strong Ale than an Imperial Stout: it has some roasted malt, dark fruits, licorice, yeast, light chocolate hints and some alcohol notes. Sweet flavor with some roastiness, some chocolate, lots of fruits (raisins, figs notes) and caramel. Medium to full body. Enjoyable in small amounts. Kavu (74), Jyväskylä, Finland Nov 26, 2008 Very dark brown with a light yellow head. Heavily roasted malt in the aroma. The flavor is much of the same. A bit too alcoholic finish for my liking. LisaR (46), Gothenburg, Sweden Nov 20, 2008 At Haket. Red-brown dark colour. Aromas: food, chocolate. Flavor: sweet, coffe, a bit ketchup, roasted, burned, chocolate, marcipan.
