DocLock (4175), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 21, 2008 Draft. Pours deep copper with t1-finger of off-white head. Nose is fresh wet hops, lemongrassy caramel malt, mild peppery notes. Tastes wet hoppy, with a solid dose of caramel malt, some brown sugary notes, and some citric earthy notes. Another very good varietal IPA. sheatripper (831), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jul 7, 2008 Draught at Bar Great Harry. Hazy orange/copper pour with a cream colored frothy head leaving webby lacing. Seemingly basic citrusy/pine PNW hop nose. Flavor a bit more revealing, with the hops taking a sassafras, mint, and almost licoricey character in addition to the citrus with a mild resin at the end. This one struck me as a little sweeter/maltier than other SF IPA projects I’ve tried, with a tamer and smoother hop profile. This even came across somewhat like a "fresh hop" IPA--minty and smooth, with no real bitterness. I was really looking for more of that slow and steady hop oil "afterburn" on my tongue which I’ve enjoyed in many of the other SF project IPAs. At any rate, I seem unable to try any new project IPA and not come away with a generally favorable impression. michael-pollack (1596), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 23, 2008 Cask at TND: Aroma of hops, citrus, and some pine. Poured dark amber/dark orange in color with a medium-sized light tan head that lasted throughout. Hazy. Opaque. Flavor is light to medium bitter. Tastes of fruity hops, citrus, sweet malts, and hints of grass and herbs. Medium body. Sticky texture. Soft carbonation (cask). Sweet hop finish. TomDecapolis (2545), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 14, 2008 On tap at Royersford location. Pours mostly translucent copper/amber with a medium creamy/bubbly off white head. Aroma was floral, light cirrus, caramel, cereal grains, noble hop character but overall on the light side in terms of hops in an IPA. Flavor of pine, grapefruit, floral, moderatly bitter, noble hop flavor, a little earthy, caramel and cereal grains. Nice drunking IPA.
