cbeers21 (456), Miami, Florida, USA Nov 28, 2008 Growler from brewpub. Wow. Tasty. Tastes like a winter IPA. Gret amount of hops booming through a toasted fruity malt background. Good caramel and vanilla element works well with a pronounced hop bite and hearty quenching attitude. Very enjoyable. JK (2509), uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jul 26, 2008 Another from Skyview. I like this. Moderate hops in the aroma. Flavor is a little sweet, like a barleywine can be, along with salt and more hops. Very low carbonation. Skyview (3058), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 23, 2008 From a 22-oz bomber via trade with 5000, pours a hazy amber caramel brew with a heavy and rocky beige head that has some nice retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of light raisin, caramel malt, a touch of citrus, roasted nuts and toffee. Taste is smooth, light carbonated with flavors of caramel, toffee, some citrus zest, and light mincemeat pie raisins. Finish is slightly tart, with aftertastes of raisin, caramel, and a mild bitterness after the finish. Not too overly spiced like most other winter ales. MatSciGuy (350), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Jul 14, 2008 [Bottle] Pours a caramel brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is spices, a little bit of hops, and malt. The chinooks really add some significant bitterness. Pretty well balanced. Lots of caramelly malt to balance the large hop load. kitschy (129), Nebraska, USA Jun 18, 2008 A toasted brown color, with beige head. very rich beer, perhaps with caramel malt. I was surprised at the amount of hops in this beer; they snuck up on the end. Rich aroma, not spiced.
