Commercial Description:
This is a barley-wine style ale that is a rich and evil brew with hints of the underworld and a hellacious kick. Though it is slightly sweet, the hops are assertive enough to hold the complex flavors that abound. "Give in to the Dark Side."

12 ounce bottle drank with the boys at Eric’s around 2 am. Pours a deep brown/red color with a huge white foamy head. The aroma is rich caramel, hot alcohol, candies. A similar flavor; rich caramel, light alcohol, sweet candies and fruit. A nice brew for sure.

Shared at tasting. Pours clear brown with a light short lived beige head. Smell is bourbon and malt and alcohol. Very bright taste and thin bourbon and caramel flavor. A bit watery. Decent and drinkable flavor overall, but watery.

Draught t Bittercreek - Pours a beautiful reddish amber with no head...aroma is candy malt, fruity with pine resin...flavour is fucking hot!...sweet and savory toffee malt, thick hops...this could set your hair on fire...needs a better balance...

On tap @ TFD. Not much aroma at first, but improved over time. Gorgeous dark amber appearance. Tan head with superb delicate lacing. Sweet chewy toffee malt flavor with strong bitterness. Like the aroma, the flavor got better over time. This one didn’t do much for, just an o.k. barleywine.

Bottle (2005): Murky orange/brown pour with a nice big beige head. Fruity sweet and malty aroma, hints of candied sugars. Flavor is malty, brown sugary, citrus, and faded hops. Nice.

Bottle at the Brewpub. One of the few remaining bottles of the ’05 batch that the barkeep busted out for us Hazy deep mahogany with a small off white head. Modeset sweet malty carmel aroma. Flavors were of soft ripe pittd fruits, brown sugar and sweet lightly roasted malts. Thick soft feel and very subdued hop notes. The 2 years in the bottle really settled this down. Would not have guessed 10%+
