thenick (611), North Bellmore, New York, USA Nov 29, 2008 Tap @ SPH. Pours a clear, deep brown with a frothy and lingering off-white head. Aroma is malt, wood notes, and very assertive hops. Taste is the same, with wood notes, dark fruit, and malt up front, dissolving into a wonderful complementary hop bitterness. It’s a very well-done and off-beat brown ale. beastiefan2k (1181), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Nov 28, 2008 Imperial pint @ the Ginger Man. Pours with a large, frothy head that sits on a dark, clear, brown body. Aroma is bark, bitter hops, and a slick maltiness. It all melds well, comes of as a hoppy English forest. Taste. is bitter, bark, prune, and hops. I got to talking with other RBians, so my notes end here. But I thought of this is a fine, slightly more hoppy, slightly stronger brown ale. Nothing to write home about but a damn fine beer. jefcon (873), Arlington, Virginia, USA Oct 27, 2008 Draft. Plain brown with a reddish hint around the edges. Aromas are almond and nutty, with a bright caramel malt and some orange citrus hops lurking in the background. Balanced palate. Lots of chocolate and caramel malts. Short dry finish. puzzl (1900), New York, New York, USA Oct 27, 2008 Tap at Barcade. Ruby brown pour with a minor head, mostly cloudy, though well settled. Flavor is very nutty, caramel, crystal, toasty english malts. Nutty and toasty aroma. Solid. jredmond (633), New Jersey, USA Oct 20, 2008 Sampled at Blind Tiger in NYC. Pours a dark brown body. Aroma is some chocolate malt and caramel. Smooth flavor, verra nice!
