acrdz (4486), Boulder, Colorado, USA Oct 27, 2008 Sample from a growler. Rich cloudy chocolate black body. Dry bakers chocolate and salty toast throughout, from the somewhat parched and stale (in a good way) nose, to the creamy but dry (opposite of sweet) oily texture on the back. Very good. hopdog (4778), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 27, 2008 Growler acquired in trade with beerbill (thanks!). Poured a dark brown (almost black) color with a samller sized off white head. Aromas of roast, caramel, and chocolate. Tastes of roast, chocolate, and had a light bitter coffee finish. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Oct 12, 2008 Date: 10/03/2008
GAManiac (446), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 4, 2008 Growler shared by kp at the Brick Store.
Pours dark, dark brown with a tan head that lingers for a little while but leaves no lacing. The aroma is dominated by roasted malts and chocolate with the sweetness coming out even more as it warmed. The taste is heavier on the roasted malt side of things with a little chocolate and coffee in the there as well. The mouthfeel is very smooth with good carbonation. I enjoyed this one and it’s a very good sessionable stout. Thanks again to kp for sharing this one. beerbill (1393), Laurel, New York, USA Sep 7, 2008 On tap at SPH. Arrived at the table black with a moderate brown head that faded to a ring after the first quarter of the glass and left a partial coating of lace with each sip. Very pleasant aroma of mocha and roasted malt with the mocha being more dominant. The flavor is more heavily influenced by the roasted malt, with barely a hint of the mocha that is so noticeable in the aroma. There is also a bit of cardboard in the flavor as well. Mild-moderate bitterness at the finish. A very solid stout.
