Aroma is hoppy, citrus and grassy. Rather promising for the rest of the beer. The taste disappoints a bit however: it’s a fresh beer, spicy and hoppy with a light bitter, grassy aftertaste. After a while also the alcohol becomes prominent. Overall is the beer well balanced. The taste isn’t bad, but is also nothing special. Parket (262), Bruges, Belgium

Presentation: 750 ml corked bottle with freshness date on the label (best before 2010-01-18). Interesting to note that this one is brewed with vitamin C.
When I opened it, the cork came out with a very big pop, like opening a bottle of champagne. It pours a pale golden straw color, very clear and with plenty of bubbles from the carbonation. The head is very big, ivory-colored and quite lively. It settles after a while and leaves some lacings.
A rather prominent smell of medicinal phenols hits the nose together with some yeast. Mild aromas of sweet fruits - like ripe apple peel. Some tart fruitiness, kind of like rhubarb, as well. A gentle funky note and general spiciness.
Big and prominent medicinal flavors almost overpowers the palate. Very distinct flavors of band-aid, sterile hospital environment and rectified spirit (no alcohol, though). Although, this perhaps sounds somewhat repugnant, it’s actually kind of pleasant - and definitely interesting. Some yeast. Plenty of sweet caramel malts and some restrained, yet present, flavors of fruit (lemon peel, pineapple) balance the sharp medicinal flavors. In the finish, which is slightly bitter and dry, there are some hop flavors, spices (cloves) and a dry band-aid flavor. The alcohol is in general well hidden, but becomes somewhat more prominent towards the end. All in all, a pleasant taste with lots of flavors going on.
Medium body. High levels of carbonation, actually to high initially since the rather sharp bubbles takes away some of the flavors.
I enjoyed this one, but perhaps a 750 ml bottle was a bit too much. It has a very "Belgian" profile - if that concept makes any sense - with lots of carbonation, characteristic yeast in the aroma and interesting and at least somewhat balanced flavors. However, the phenolic character really takes the lead. I would highly recommend it to someone who has a hard time identifying what medicinal phenols actually taste like.
