BDR (1965), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Oct 23, 2008 Warmer for ’Where the Wild Beers Are’. Purple color with a sweet cassis aroma. Very sweet but just shy of cloying with a solid cassis flavor.
kmweaver (2273), Nicaragua Oct 9, 2008 12.7oz bottle, date of 08.2007. Pours a murky, pitty dark currant / blackberry puree color; light purple head with patchy fine-bubbled lacing. Lots of medicinal dark fruits, blackberries, currants, and cough syrup in the aroma; slightly rough with some vague licorice notes. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: sticky sweet, medicinal dark fruits, currants, and blackberries; flabby in the mouth, this tastes like sweet cough syrup with just a bit of tartness and acidity; after the framboise and kriek, this wasn’t even close; overripe and quite poor. Lengthy, need-to-brush-my-teeth finish: currants, sweet simple sugar, and lots of heavy cough syrup; overripe and sweet. YK23 (212), Israel Oct 6, 2008 Bottle: the aroma mostly strong black currant with some weak barnyard smell which is nice, the flavor is again mostly black currant, some sweetness but not too sweet, some sourness, some nice dryness and acidity, some weak bitterness, not bad actually. DSG (994), Yuvalim, Israel Sep 28, 2008 Bottle. A beautiful-looking beer - deep ruby-colored with a pink to light-red head. Aroma of sweet berries. A sweet flavor, somewhat sugary, with berries and a nice acidic tone that’s getting stronger towards the finish. Medium-bodied. Like the other St. Louis fruit "Lambics" this is rather sweet and doesn’t have almost any Lambic character, but I find it to be a pleasant fruit beer. JK (2509), uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Sep 14, 2008 "Where the Wild Beers Are" 2008. Unusual purple color. Sweet fruit and cassis flavor. Not bad at all for a dessert beer. Lots of sugar.
