CaryTheDude (487), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Nov 28, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Smells of a sour ale with lots of cherries. Flavor is aight. Cherries and yums, but once again, comparable to cough syrup. Go Belgian Red. PorterPounder (2878), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Nov 18, 2008 Tallahassee, Fl. - New Leaf Market - 12.7 oz bottle. Brief aroma of Bing cherries. Reddish pour with a tight pink head. Some decent cherry sourness, but not as pronounced as some Krieks. Very natural tasting though - no syrupy taste. Mouthfeel has a nice texture to it. kmweaver (2273), Nicaragua Oct 1, 2008 12.7oz bottle. Pours a bright, clear ruby red color; medium pink head with good retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Slightly medicinal, sweet black cherry syrup and mixed berries in the aroma; like black cherry Dr. Pepper; slightest touch of funk. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of sweet black cherries (though not quite to the point of stickiness), mixed berry punch, and lightly tart (very lightly tart) citrus, plus a touch of minerals; overly sweet, not heavy, but very sweet and syrupy; something to split at the end of an evening, with some sort of chocolate-laden dessert. Medium finish: sweet, syrupy black cherries, mixed berries, and light base maltiness. acrdz (4486), Boulder, Colorado, USA Oct 1, 2008 375ml bottle shared by kmweaver. Pours mostly clear bright maraschino cherry red. Nose is semi-sweet candied yogurt cream cherries. Juicy, somewhat artificial, but not terrible. For a dessert beer it smells just fine. Medium to light body, silky up front, more rounded over the middle but very sugary, almost gritty, syrupy candied cherries. Far too sweet, but tongues have evolved to like such things so it’s not that bad... sweet, candied, lightly creamy, a good dessert beer for sure. thenick (611), North Bellmore, New York, USA Oct 1, 2008 Sample @ BBF 08, Boston. Pours a deep red with a nice pink head. Aroma is heavy cherry with a bit of funk in there as well. Taste is the same, with heavy cherries giving way to a nice funky aftertaste. This is a bit underrate - I liked it.
