Nov 27, 2009 Aroma of aged coffee with an unexpected hop presence. Appearance is dark brown with a creamy chocolate head. Flavor is roasted coffee with dark chocolate and an undercurrent of hops that is not common in many porters. Palate is bubbly and somewhat lively. An interesting brew in a normally mundane category.

Nov 26, 2009 Not too shabby. Has a roasted nut flavor that also gives off a little bit of a creamy feel. The color is nice and black, with no foam. Pretty decent.

Ruby-highlighted black body. Small ring of offwhite foam.
Subtle, yet complex roasted nose; nuts, burnt toffee, dark chocolate, plum and dark cherry, distinct smokiness and earthy spice.
Mouthful is very full and length, particularly for strength. Thick, sticky malt body, moderate-high carbonation, very smooth with well-rounded roasted astrigencies blending with the overall richness.
Tarry maltiness on the body; vanilla, mollasses, rum; all quite rich and sweet. Leafy, woody and earthy spices towards the finish, bitterness is quite firm yet well adjusted with the toffeeish sweetness that carries on and lingers.
Quite a complex dark ale, yet well balanced and very drinkable.

Oct 26, 2009 Brownish black pour topped by a small and short lived beige head. Aroma is molasses, vanilla toffe/choclate and inviting. Mouth feel is heavily sweet all the way through to an averagely lasting finish and a hint of acidity at the beginning. Medium bodied and a creamy, syrupy texture. Sparkling. Not one of St.Peter’s finest, but definitely drinkable.
