It was served too cold and didn’t really hit the nose until it started to warm up. Once it did the roasted coffee really stuck out. First taste was smooth with the bitter coffee after taste. Overall I really enjoyed this beer, the brewery just didn’t know how to serve it. I would order this beer again. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2008 Tap at Tablerock: Pours near black with a smaller brown head. No real lacing to speak of. My my first thought is this is way to cold to get a proper rating, but after a few sips of intense coffee flavor I realized it was going to take an hour to drink the whole pint. Deep, flavorful coffee with light roast and some lingering bitters. Aroma is pure delicious coffee. I certainly agree with Jordan on the coffee overwhelming the rest of the brew. Would have kicked ass with a breakfast burrito. BuckeyeBoy (1669), Boise, Idaho, USA

Aroma of day old coffee. Tast of rich malts and plenty of coffee a nice sweetness on this one aswell. I did let this one warm up for about 15min before I even took a sip. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Draft: Big cold pour, black with ruby hues, light head and lacing. Nose of sweet grapes, roast and coffee, light chocolate and a vegetal note. The flavor is bitter from the coffee and hops and astringent from all the roast. Still some sweet cocoa and spicy herbal notes like lavender or sage. Wakes up as it warms. Claims to have a 1/4 cup of coffee. Ok. Bright coffee flavor as it warms, more overpowering than the stout. The roast is dry, full and thin in the mouthfeel. A solid attempt, satisfying for breakfast, but served too cold to fully appreciate until the last drank.
