| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Pint on tap at the brewpub. It was listed as "Jeff’s Goatbreath Smoked Oktoberfest". Aroma has plenty of piney C-hop notes as well as some lightly smoked malts. Pretty aromatic and pleasant--the smoke comes through more as this warms. It’s rather subtle. Mostly transparent copper body with a creamy off-white head and good lacing. Start has a nice, sweet, chewy maltiness before it gives way to a more husky, roasted/smoked malt flavor in the middle. Finishes with more smoked flavor and some more hopy piney-citrus flavoring. Seems closer than an IPA, actually. Still, this is balanced very well and it is flavorful. An enjoyable brew. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate smoke malty aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium sweet smoke flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectation where met. jcwattsrugger (5578), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 25, 2008 On tap @ the brewpub. Pours deep gold with thin off white head. The aroma is nice and smoky with notes of sweet malts and faint apricot in the background. The taste is smoke up front but not near the Schlenkerla pummeling the senses level. The smokiness is met by mild malts and then later a growing yet overall mild hop bitterness that carries into the finish. The smoke is fairly bold and takes steps toward being bacon like but never really gets there. sebletitje (1997), Tampa, Florida, USA

Aroma light smoked malts, floral hops.
Taste is smokey, light malts.
Thick mouthfeel. Very drinkable and light, not as smokey as some other Rauchbier. fishingnet (1047), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2008 Tap. Pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma has a good dose of smoke followed by sweet malt and a hint of caramel. Taste is the same as aroma with noble hops and a good balance between the smoke and sweet malt. Medium mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness. A damn fine brew.
