| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 28, 2009 Bottle, pours an ugly brown pale yellow and orange muddled together, Aroma is of soft pine hops and citrus. Initial taste is terrible, nothing like the aroma which would have been good, Malty beginning that is sweet kind of bready mixed with grapefruit hops. The hops are good but its not a good mix, has a sour fruit after taste. Has a good dry finish with good tongue tingle and the hop flavor lingers. As the beer warms the flavors mix better and it tastes better. BrotherGrendel (611), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Dark orange hue, light off-white head sustains with fair lacing. Nose is rich bready malts with earthy and citrus hops, tinge of resin. Flavor is surprisingly malty with bread and toffee up front complimented with a moderate-high hop bitterness and low-moderate hop flavor of earthy-spice mostly with faint hints of citrus and resin, finishes sweet. Medium body, thick texture, moderate carbonation. A well-balanced, decidedly east-coast IPA with more malty presence than Cali counterparts, the hops may have also mellowed with time (I think this was sitting in my parent’s fridge since last xmas). | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 24, 2009 Botte into pint glass. Slightly cloudy with a one finger head. Aroma was mildly hoppy with a definite grapefruit tone. Feels medium bodied in the mouth. Mild hops, but needs a little more malt to help the balance. Middle of the road beer, but not bad. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 24, 2009 12oz - One finger of off-white head sits over a cloudy orange liquid. Solid but mild hops on nose. Some malt and a waxy hops hit on palate. Bitter finish missing the malt needed to balance it. The waxy hit really turned me off.
