Prunus cerotina - fruit native to North and Central America, cultivated in South America as well, not closely related to commonly cultivated cherries, but to Eurasian bird cherry and chokecherry. Note: Do not use for cultivated varieties of sweet cherries or sour cherries which are called "black cherries" due to their color.
