flemish red

A sour red ale originating from Flanders, Belgium. These are usually lighter in color than their oud bruin cousins and also more acidic. Similar oak aging and blending of young and old barrels create a sweet and sour play. They can be fruity, vinous, tannic, and sharply sour. Rodenbach is the archetype.
