gvirc

Gvirc is a "mead"-related term used in Northern/Central Croatia, having slightly different meanings depending on the area. The most common usage, especially widespread in the region of Hrvatsko Zagorje, and to be used with this tag, is for a low-alcohol (3%-4% generally) mead, made by either stopped fermentation or, commonly, dilution of full-strength mead. Herbs may be added, spices and so on. It’s commonly drunk at "kermesse" festivals (locally known as "proštenje"). A common feature is also that honey in honeycombs is used for making it. Depending on the area, it might also signify a regular, full-strength mead, but those are not to be tagged.
