The “Sour IPA” is generally meant for an IPA recipe where the flavor primarily comes from Lactobacillus used in a kettle souring process and are often compared to NEIPAs with added tartness. Generally speaking, the term refers to a heavily hopped (most often Dry-Hopped) sour ale. It might have a touch of sweetness from lactose but it is not mandatory. Note that Mixed Fermentation IPAs with a perceptible sour taste are generally classed as Wild IPAs.
