SOMBO: A Russian Martial Art form. SOMBO is an anglicization of Самбo, which is a Cyrillic acronym for Samoborona Bez Orusiya and can be translated as "Self defense without weapons".

Any living creature; an animal. Syn. Brute
Usage: When we use these words in a figurative sense, as applicable to human beings, we think of beasts as mere animals governed by animal appetite; and of brutes as being destitute of reason or moral feeling, and governed by unrestrained passion. Hence we speak of beastly appetites; beastly indulgences, etc.
Sombeast: Derivation of Sombo-ist. A practitioner and former instructor of the grappling arts driven to drink - the finest zymurgistically produced beverages available.
