I began tasting beer as research for home brewing---and depend on recommendations and ratings of others to steer me toward exceptional brews. I love everything about beer, and enjoy many different brews, although my favorites all seem to come from the UK,or are a UK style---among my favorites are Murphy’s Stout, Smithwick’s, Boddingtons, and Red Hook ESB. Beers that I have brewed include stout, porter, bitter, brown ale, Irish Red Ale, and an ESB that won a silver medal in its division in the Upper Mississippi Mash Out a few years ago.
